About Walk Awêh

An independent safety and information app for hikers in Cape Town and surrounds. Free for hikers, always.

Over 100 rescue callouts occurred in Table Mountain National Park in the first half of 2023 alone. Walk Awêh exists to close the gap between hikers setting out and hikers coming home. It operates independently from WSAR, SANParks, CapeNature, and all government agencies. Emergency numbers are verified quarterly.

What's in the app

  • Verified emergency contacts — dial directly from the app
  • Offline first aid guides — works without signal
  • Live mountain weather with a go/no-go safety verdict
  • Curated trail information with rescue and cell-reception notes
  • Local guides for hikers who want an experienced leader
