Silvermine Nature Reserve
Silvermine Nature Reserve Trails
Entry fee required at the SANParks gate — cash and card accepted. The reserve is large and some routes are poorly marked in the upper sections. Do not rely solely on mobile data for navigation.
Know before you go
A peaceful alternative to Table Mountain's busy northern trails. The Elephant's Eye Cave hike is the standout route — a straightforward walk to a large cave with views over Tokai and Muizenberg. The Silvermine Dam is a popular swim spot in summer. SANParks entry fee applies.
Rescue history
Low rescue frequency compared to Table Mountain's northern face, but hikers have become lost in the southern section of the reserve. Carry a downloaded offline map.
Spotty throughout. Weakest in the valley sections.
Return to the Silvermine Gate via the valley floor jeep track — accessible from all major routes.
