Silvermine / Noordhoek
Noordhoek Peak
A long, committing hike with no shade and significant distance. Do not underestimate the return leg. The upper sections are fully exposed — turn back if wind or cloud conditions deteriorate.
Know before you go
Offers outstanding views of Noordhoek valley, Hout Bay, and the southern Peninsula from a summit few visitors reach. The approach from Silvermine via the Witte Rif trail is the most popular. SANParks entry fee applies at Silvermine Gate.
Rescue history
This area sees fewer rescues than the Table Mountain massif but is more remote. Response times are longer. Always inform someone of your intended route and expected return time.
Spotty throughout. Weakest in the valley approaches.
The Silvermine valley jeep track is the most reliable exit — descend to the gate on Ou Kaapseweg. From Chapman's Peak, return the way you came.
