Know before you go

• Panoramic views from Surfer's Corner to Gordon's Bay on a clear day.
• First 100m are steep and sandy — pace yourself before the terrain eases.
• Often combined with St James Peak for a longer traverse along Boyes Drive.
• Go early — the summit gets very hot with no shade.

If you need help

Hikers regularly lose the route and become disoriented. The opening 200m on a steep sandy track catches many off guard. Wind on the summit can be extreme and dangerous. The April 2025 wildfire affected parts of Silvermine East — some trail markers may be missing.

Emergency exit

Descend back down Pecks Valley the way you came. The contour path also links to Kalk Bay and St James Peak — both lead to Boyes Drive.
