The trail starts on Boyes Drive — a busy road with no pedestrian footpath. Cross with extreme care. The route involves loose rock and exposed ridge sections that require careful footing.

Know before you go

  • A local favourite with spectacular views of False Bay, Muizenberg, and the Hottentots Holland Mountains.
  • Less crowded than Table Mountain routes — quiet on most weekdays.
  • Cave systems on route are interesting but should be explored with others, not alone.

If you need help

Lower rescue frequency than Table Mountain, but serious falls on the rocky descent have been recorded. The cave system on this route has been associated with a crime incident — do not explore alone.

Emergency exit

Return the way you came via Boyes Drive. No alternative exit exists on this route.

Cell reception

Spotty. Best at the summit and on open ridges.
