Glencairn
Elsie's Peak
The summit is open and fully exposed to wind — conditions deteriorate rapidly when the SE blows. The upper path involves loose shale that is slippery when wet.
Know before you go
One of the southern peninsula's best-kept hiking secrets. The summit offers views over False Bay, Simon's Town Naval Base, and across to Cape Point. The route passes through beautiful coastal fynbos. Far quieter than Table Mountain on weekends.
Rescue history
A quieter route with lower rescue call-out frequency. The area is more remote than central Table Mountain routes — allow extra time and do not rely on help arriving quickly.
Spotty. Variable coverage throughout.
Return the way you came. The residential suburb of Glencairn Heights is at the base of the trail.
