Know before you go

  • A quieter trail on Silvermine's east side — views over the Kalk Bay mountains and False Bay.
  • Well-suited for an introduction to fynbos hiking.
  • SANParks conservation fee at the gate — cash only.
  • Often combined with the Spes Bona forest walk for a longer outing.

If you need help

Short trail but isolated. Hikers who take wrong forks have become lost and required assistance. Download an offline map. Silvermine was burnt in the major April 2025 wildfire — most paths reopened by late 2025.

Emergency exit

Return the way you came to the gate. SANParks emergency: 086 110 6417.

Cell reception

No signal. Silvermine has no cell coverage.
